Team: Sacramento Kings
Pick: DeMarcus Cousins
Grade: A
Analysis: The Kings got a gem last year in Tyreke Evans, and this year they got another solid pick in Cousins. Without Hawes they are now in need of someone dominant like Cousins could be.

2010 NBA Draft: #4 - Minnesota Timberwolves
Team: Minnesota T-Wolves
Pick: Wesley Johnson
Grade: B+
Analysis: Minnesota has made some risky picks in the past. Rubio and Flynn could have been worse then it came out to be. McHale is just not liked there. But this pick is not too bad. Ryan Gomes isn't a starter and this guy could be a good player. They didn't have much room to mess up. He isn't a guy to lead, but he is a guy to shoot well and do well.

2010 NBA Draft- #3 New Jersey Nets
Team: New Jersey Nets
Pick: Derrick Favors
Grade: A-
Analysis: Derrick Favors scares many to be a Kwame Brown. He is only 18 years old! He is just going to need some time to reach full potential is all, as I see no Kwame in him at all. They say he has an NBA body, and can finish. I am excited to see what he can do in the NBA

2010 NBA Draft: #1- Philadelphia 76ers
Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Pick: Evan Turner
Grade: A-
Analysis: Again, the 6ers select the best player available in the draft. However, again, the 76ers do not need him. Him and Igoudola will play very awkwardly together, as Igouldala plays like a hybrid of PG and SG. However, Turner is a great player and they will be better with him. As long as he can avoid turnovers, he will be a great player.

2010 NBA Draft: #1- Washington Wizards
Team: Washington Wizards
Pick: John Wall
Grade: A-
Analysis: After looking at the roster, the Wizards are in need of a Center. However, Wall is without a doubt the best player in the Draft. He is an all around freak of nature. He will be the next best player, and I can not wait for him to be an NBA player. He has very good vision, and even though he turns the ball over 1 in every 4 possessions, he is still (hands down) a monster. Why not A+? Well they didn't need him since Arenas will be back, but he is the best available and couldn't pass them up.

2010 NFL Draft: 1st Round in Review
This is my review of the 1st round of the NFL Draft. I will share my best pick, worst pick, questionable pick, and secure pick in the 1st round. Let me begin.

Best Pick:
Russell Okung, G, Seattle Seahawks
Reason: The Seahawks got a steal here at #6. Okung could have gone Top 5 easily, but Redskins took Trent Williams and the Chiefs took Eric Berry. This left the Seahawks with a great choice, either Okung or any of the available defenders. Okung was the best choice from that spot, so Okung was my favorite pick of the day.
Worst Pick:
Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Reason: Tim Tebow is not an NFL quality quarterback, and for McDaniels to take him in the 1st round, I am not surprised. Well that's cause McDaniels is an idiot, but other than that they do have Brady Quinn and Kyle Orton. So do they think Tebow can play as well as either of them? I doubt it. Maybe the style will work or something, but if you want a Quarterback, why not take Clausen? They also took only a decent wide out, why not take a legit receiver like Dez Bryant? The quality of Denver's picks were just not up to par for winning. Would you rather have Dez Bryant and Jimmy Clausen or Tim Tebow and Demaryius Smith? Bad pick here by the Broncos. The fans gave it an F.

Questionable Pick:
Tyson Alualu, DT, Jacksonville Jaguars
I have to be honest, I have never heard of Tyson Alualu in the first round on any draft. Never this high, at least. I thought Derrick Morgan was going to be the pick here, but apparently... not. Derrick Morgan is the better version of Alualu, but the Jags must've seen something in Alualu to draft him this high in the draft. Oh well, the Jaguars lost out on some good talent, and I'm not saying Alualu is a bad player, I just think there were many other defensive tackles and ends that could've been taken before him.
Secure Pick:
CJ Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills
What I mean by a secure pick is that this pick will be the best player out of all those drafted in the 1st round. That guy will be CJ Spiller. CJ Spiller is being compared to Reggie Bush on many sites. He is big yet explosive. Yes, Sam Bradford will have a great career at St. Louis, and yes, Suh will be a greatm dominate defensive player. But CJ Spiller will be great from the get go. He has a vibe about him that not many running backs have gotten in recent years.
The storyline of the 1st round must have been how Jimmy Clausen was not drafted in the 1st round of the Draft. He was projected a Top 10 pick, but in the end, Tebow was drafted instead of him. It is a crazy thought that someone who will be as good as Clausen won't be a first round pick. Expect him to be drafted early in the second by either the Raiders, Browns or Bills.

2010 NFL Draft #32 - New Orleans Saints
Pick: Patrick Robinson (DB) - Florida State
Grade So Far: B-
Analysis: I thought that this was going to be Kindle, but this is still a good pick by the Saints. He isn't a very good hitter, but he had very nice hands so he will be a good addition to the Saints.

2010 NFL Draft #31 - Indianapolis Colts
Pick: Jerry Hughes (DE) - TCU
Grade So Far: B+
Analysis: Hughes can be the heir to Dwight Freeney's defensive stardom. He will take over for Brock, and Mathis and Freeney will be able to teach him some of the tools of the trade. He is an amazing pass rusher and will be a huge asset for the Colts.

NFL Draft #30- Detroit Lions (from Minnesota)
Pick: Jahvid Best
Grade So Far: A+ (Same as last pick)
Analysis: Great pick here by the Lions here. Smith has a nasty ACL tear, so if he can't perform they have Jahvid Best, a very good runner. They are doing everything right these last 2 years. Stafford, Pettigrew, Suh and Best are a group of future Pro Bowlers. Not to mention Calvin Johnson

2010 NFL Draft #29 - New York Jets
Pick: Kyle Wilson (DB) - Boise State
Grade So Far: B+
Analysis: So the Jets have had a monster off season. Getting Rogers-Cromartie on one end and Derell Revis on the other side, they have the defense set. They have LT as a BACKUP running back, and they have Mark Sanchez. They have a monster team right now, and I they are my favorites so far. So now, they have a the best defense in the NFL. How, you say? Well if this kid is the 3rd CB, how can anyone make a catch against NYJ? This is going to be crazy for the Jets fans. In short, great pick. They don't need anything else anyways.

2010 NFL Draft #28 - Miami Dolphins (from San Diego)
Pick: Jared Odrick (DT) - Penn State
Grade So Far: B
Analysis: Not a bad pick here in general. He can play an end position, so watch him move there. At one point I got a thought in my head that Clausen could be picked here. But apparently not. This wasn't a bad pick, as it fills in Jason Taylor's hole.

2010 NFL Draft #27 - New England Patriots (from Denver)
Pick: Devin McCourty (CB) - Rutgers
Grade So Far: B
Analysis: Not a bad pick here by the Patriots. He is an outstanding Special Teams player, and he can be a good player along side 2nd round pick of last year Darius Butler. He ran a 4.38, which is great, and even though he was a borderline guy, he is a good pick here for the Patriots.

2010 NFL Draft #26 - Arizona Cardinals
Pick: Dan Williams (DT) - Tennessee
Grade So Far: B
Analysis: This was a safe pick for the Cardinals. I thought it was going to be Clausen for a second because they were not keen on Leinart, but they apparently have enough confidence to have Tennessee DT Williams to be the pick. He'll help a solid line in run stoppage. Decent pick here by the Cardinals. It could have been either Jerry Hughes or Williams, so this was a good pick. Now, they need to get that LB that Hughes would've been

2010 NFL Draft #25 - Denver Broncos (from Arizona)
Pick: Tim Tebow (QB) - Florida
Grade So Far: D+ (Down from B from Thomas)
Analysis: Tim Tebow goes in the 1st round. I didn't think it would happen but in my heart I knew someone would do it. They have a Wild Cat formation Tebow can thrive in. Orton and Quinn are not quality QB's. This is just insane as a pick though. Did they know Clausen was on the board? He is much better than Tebow. Tebow may not even be a NFL QB. I don't like this pick. Neither does Kiper... Oh well.

2010 NFL Draft #24- Dallas Cowboys (from New England from Denver)
Pick: Dez Bryant (WR) - Oklahoma St.
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: Dallas trading up here was a good idea, but why for Dez Bryant? They have Roy Williams and Miles Austin, so why would they want another guy? Maybe because Roy Williams is a bust at Dallas, or maybe Miles is a one year wonder. I think it is a good pick in the end, as Roy is just not who they traded for. Jerry Jones loves those controversial players, and Dez was the definition, after taking money from OK St. But Jerry Jones has a plan for Dez and Austin, and this will also give Romo a maximum amount of receivers.

2010 NFL Draft #23 - Green Bay Packers
Pick: Bryan Bulaga (OT) - Iowa
Draft So Far: A+
Analysis: Even though Green Bay lost some defensive players, Aaron Rodgers was HAMMERED by opposite defenses, especially Jared Allen. Baluga can help that line, and maybe in a few years have a chance to stop Allen from hurting Rodgers. They still need more help, as they have two veteran lineman, now Baluga, but they may need one more guy to keep Rodgers safe. However, great pick. A+

2010 NFL Draft #22 - Denver Broncos (from New England)
Pick: Demaryius Thomas (WR) - Georgia Tech
Grade So Far: B
Analysis: So after trading down and trading down, the Broncos must trade up to get their guy. They have Brady Quinn and Kyle Orton, two quality QB's, and they needed a WR to do fill in for Brandon Marshall. Was this the guy? Dez Bryant is available, but Thomas seems like the less controversial guy, and Marshall was all controversy. So getting away from the drama was the likely reason Thomas was taken. Not bad, but Bryant is the best WR available, I believe he should have went.

NFL Draft 2010 #21 - Cincinnati Bengals
Pick: Jermaine Gresham (TE) - Oklahoma
Grade So Far: B+
Analysis: They have a solid D with sophmore Ray Malualuga fronting the team. So Palmer needed a decent Tight End to complete a solid offense as well. Gresham can do that. He is injury prone, but if he is being 100% and lining up with the Palmer, he is dangerous. Now, they must get another solid back just in case Benson goes back to his old slacker ways.

2010 NFL Draft #20 - Houston Texans
Pick: Kareem Jackson (DB) - Alabama
Grade So Far: B+
Analysis: The Texans had their first winning season last year. Andre Johnson and Schaub connected, and even though the run game was flat, it has promise. They lost Dunta Robinson to the Falcons, so Kareem Jackson was a great pick. Maybe Kyle Wilson should've been a pick here, but Jackson is a great player that will perform at the pro level. Even though Jackson only had one INT, he is still a good pick.

2010 NFL Draft # 19 - Atlanta Falcons
Pick: Sean Weatherspoon (LB) - Missouri
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: So I am a Falcons fan (casually). This pick is, in a fan's perspective, fantastic. Where will he play though? With Brooking gone, and Mike Peterson old and dried, Weatherspoon is a great pick. I think he will be so much better than the two named. He did 34 reps at the Combine, and a high vertical. he is a freak of nature! They also need an end, and he can play that. Jamaal Anderson is a bust, so this is a win win for the Falcons.

2010 NFL Draft #18- Pittsburgh Steelers
Pick: Maurkice Pouncey (Center) - Florida
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: Fantastic for the Steelers to get a great center here. Last year everyone thought Eric Wood was going to the Steelers, but they passed, so they now get Pouncey. Pouncey can also play some other positions. But one question, who is he snapping to? Big Ben, Byron Leftwhich, Tony Batch? That is the big story. But this is a good pick by Pitt.

NFL Draft 2010 #17 - San Fransisco 49ers
Pick: Mike Iupati (G)- Idaho
Grade So Far: B (Up from B- (#11 Anthony Davis)
Analysis: This is another solid pick by the 9ers. They took Davis, a tackle, not Iupati, a guard. This shows that they have faith in Alex Smith, so they are ready to help him by getting him the best line possible. He will also help the run game. Good pick, but I still thought Clausen should've been a Niner, but this is a good pick. The grade goes up a bit.

2010 NFL Draft #16 - Tennessee Titans
Pick: Derrick Morgan (DE) - Georgia Tech
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: This is a great pick by the Titans. They lost Albert Haynesworth to FA last year, and now they have Morgan who could bring the pressure again. He is a great pass rusher, having 14.5 sacks. The Titans have a clear plan and their DT was first. It was a great pick, and congrats to them. They now need recievers, and corners.

NFL Draft 2010 #15- New York Giants
Pick: Jason Pierre- Paul (DE) - USF
Grade So Far: A
Analysis: The Giants had a hard time on Defense last year, so this is a great pick by the Giants. They now have Osi, Tuck, and Paul on one line. Crazy! They say Osi could be traded, but if not, this could be dangerous. Have they found a guy to be the next Stahan? Maybe, but for now he is a good replacement, and will make an immediate impact.

2010 NFL Draft #14 - Seattle Seahawks
Pick: Earl Thomas (S/DB)- Texas
Grade So Far: A+ (Same since Okung pick)
Analysis: The Seahawks are having a great draft so far. Thomas is great in coverage, and if they decide to use him at safety like he has played, he will be a hard hitting machine. They have Okung and Thomas in this draft, so how can you not give them an A+. I like it so far, so I hope they can continue to make themseves contenders from the draft. They had Curry as the pick last year, and that in itself was great, and this year they are doing amazing. Carroll is looking good, huh?

2010 NFL Draft #13 - Philidelphia Eagles (from Denver)
Pick: Brandon Graham (DE) - Michigan
Grade So Far: B+
Analysis: There was no need to trade the McNabb pick for this guy. However, it was a good pick by the Eagles. They need a guy across from Trent Cole, and Graham can be that guy. Fast, strong, he is the perfect end. However, they really need a CB, so their pick before the trade was ideal for Kyle Wilson. Oh well, this pick will do. It's not an A, but it's a good pick.

2010 NFL Draft #12- San Diego Chargers (from Dolphins)
Pick: Ryan Mathews
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: This was a big trade up by the Chargers, and the only way they could get Mathews was to trade up. They were too high to try and wait, and taking him will be helpful. Why is this a good pikc you may ask, because they do have Darren Sproles. But Sproles could not be nearly as good as a starting back, so Mathews is a great pick. In fact, the Dolphins would've taken a reciever so this is a fine trade as well. Great job by the Chargers, as Matthews is gonna be a great player. Exit LT, enter RM (lol).

2010 NFL Draft #11- San Fransisco 49ers (From Denver)
Pick: Anthony Davis (OT)- Rutgers
Grade So Far: B
Analysis: So... Anthony Davis can help on a struggling line, and besides their defense wasn't too bad so this pick makes sense. I don't see why you would trade up for this, but I guess the Broncos are not in a rush and their 3 were still available at this time. So this is a good pick, but Baluga, in my opinion, is better then Davis. But Davis is a giant, a "buck" they say on ESPN. So this is a good pick none the less.

2010 NFL Draft: #10 - Jacksonville Jaguars
Pick: Tyson Alualu (DT) - California
Draft Grade So Far: C-
Analysis: Tyson Alualu... Okay, so Tyson is a first rounder, but he really shouldn't have been taken here. Why not Derrick Morgan? Well they have Aaron Kampmaan, and Alualu is a DT so he can get in there and they need a defensive tackle. So this isn't a horrible pick, but if you want a guy like this trade down to a few picks so someone needy of this pick can take someone. Not a good pick by the Jags.

2010 NFL Draft #9- Buffalo Bills
Pick: CJ Spiller (RB) - Clemson
Draft Grade So Far: A
Analysis: At first, I thought this was an F pick. You have Lynch and Fred Jackson, so why Spiller? Well Lynch is a trouble maker and I now see him being traded. Jackson and Spiller is a fearful 1-2 RB combo. Even though the QB situation is ugly, and Buffalo's blocking is bad too, this is a great pick. Will Lynch be traded for picks? It's possible. CJ will sell out stadiums once the world can see just how explosive he is. Now the Bills need a lineman, then a QB. Either McCoy, Tebow, or even Jarrett Brown can help.
Draft Grade So Far: A

2010 NFL Draft #8 - Oakland Raiders
Pick: Renaldo McClain (MLB) - Alabama
Grade So Far: C
Analysis: Jamarcus Russell = Done, McFadden = Fading, and Heyward-Bay= Why? This is another bad pick by the Raiders. McClain is a great pick, but they need a QB, and other players. So this is a tough pick. They need a QB NOW, Russell is done, so I don't know why they are still hoping he can pull something out. They get a passing grade, but it was not as good pick as Clausen or even Spiller.

2010 NFL Draft #7- Cleveland Browns
Pick: Joe Haden (CB) - Florida
Grade So Far: A-
Analysis: Now that Haden and Sheldon Brown are the corners for the Browns, their pass defense will improve greatly. He can also blitz well. He must learn to recover well, but he is very good other than that. Now, a QB is needed for this team to be taken seriously. They need a pass rusher too, but Haden is a great pick.

2010 NFL Draft #6- Seattle Seahawks
Pick: Russell Okung (G)- Oklahoma St.
Draft Grade So Far: A+
Analysis: The Seahawks' dream scenario panned out. Somehow, the Redskins passed on Okung, and so did the Chiefs. Seattle has a guy that will help rebuild. Even though Charlie Whitehurst is the QB of the "future" for the Seahawks... I don't think he's the answer at all. But Okung will keep defenders at bay at his end. The Seahawks are just weak in many spots, but Okung was no doubt the best player available in the Draft. The Seahawks bolster their line with Okung., Great pick.

2010 NFL Draft #5- Kansas City Chiefs
Pick: Eric Berry (SS)- Tennessee
Draft Grade So Far: A
Analysis: Berry is a freak at safety. He is a force, he can do everything on the field. He can blitz, cover in zone or man. The Chiefs needed a guy like this. They have taken two talented ends the last two years, and Berry will be a great player to join them. Their linebackers seem like the next pick, since Mike Vrabel is getting old and he can't do it himself anyways. I think the Chiefs got a gem in this draft, and I can not wait for him to come out onto the field and show his stuff in the NFL.

2010 NFL Draft #4- Washington Redskins
Pick: Trent Williams (OT)- Oklahoma
Draft Grade So Far: B
Analysis: Trent Williams has huge upside and will be great for the Washington Redskins. But this pick should have been Russell Okung. Okung has more potential and is proven to work everyday. Williams is a great player but never played to his 100% potential. Either guy will help the Redskins, but Okung would be more effective. Don't get me wrong though, Williams will be a solid player and will be able to become a star on the line and a savior for McNabb.

2010 NFL Draft #3- Tamba Bay Buccaneers
Pick: Gerald McCoy (DT)- Oklahoma
Grade So Far: A
Analysis: So this pick was either going to be Suh or McCoy. I believe that this was the best choice in McCoy as he has proven his level many times. Suh could be a one year wonder, but McCoy is a guarenteed star. They now need to work on their offense, as I believe their defense is very good. They have Talib and Barber in the corners, and the linebackers, (Fletcher, McIntosh), are great. They now need recieving, running, and some blocking.

2010 NFL Draft: #2- Detroit Lions
Pick: Ndamukong Suh (DT)- Nebraska
Grade So Far: A+
Analysis: This is a great pick by the Lions. Suh is a monster on the line, and their defense struggled beyond belief. With Suh, their defense will be much better. They will have someone who will get to the QB. The Lions filled their hole, and now they only need to take either a running back (in case Smith's injury is too bad), or maybe a cornerback. Other than that, bolster some spots and you have a true contending team in coming years. A+ so far.

2010 NFL Draft #1- St. Louis Rams
Pick: Sam Bradford (QB) - University of Oklahoma
Team's Draft Grade So Far: A
Analysis: The Rams took the obvious choice here. They needed a quarterback, since they dropped Bulger and they have Feely. They needed a new player to build around, and Bradford can do it. Even though they don't have a good defense, the QB can alter the whole team. Bradford was the best at the Draft, amazing at his Pro Day, and in general I think that the Rams have done great so far this draft. The Rams need to get him for a contract, and once he is in a uniform, the Rams will get that much better. They now need to bolter their defensive line, and some other defensive things, and they can be a contendor in some recent years.

My Reactions to the NFL Draft
So I felt today would be a good day to start my blog. I will blog my opinions on every pick in the first round. To start I want to introduce myself. My name is Tyler Mayer and this is my 3rd try at a blog, but this time I feel I can make it last. I love the UConn Huskies, the Whalers, and The Red Sox. I am going to be talking about all these things, as well as the Wolf Pack, Rock Cats and more. So I hope you enjoy! Any more questions, e-mail me at tyler20034545@yahoo.com! Thanks.
